In order to create a freight connection between the Po Valley and Florence and guarantee the railway gauge PC80 (Minimum Obstacle Profile PMO3) a gauge adjustment is required for most of the tunnels of the Prato-Bologna railway line.

The object of this intervention are the works along the Bologna Centrale-San Benedetto Val di Sambo section, and in particular the following tunnels.

The aim\goal of the project is to adapt the Prato-Bologna line to the PC80 gauge in the Bologna Centrale-San Benedetto Val di Sambro section.

The design study was developed taking into account the PMO3 Minimum Obstacle Profile compatible with the PC80 railway gauge and introducing, for tunnel interventions, a perimeter increase of 5 cm to take into account the tolerances of the relief and the workmanship.
