Overview

Premadio hydroelectric plant (150 MW) is located in the Alps, in Valtellina and it is fed by the Cancano’s reservoir. The aim of the Alpina’s project was the strengthening of the existing Premadio I plant with a new enlargement called Premadio II of 75 MW.

The main components of the plant are:

  • Pressurized hydraulic tunnel (~3,70 m diameter – 190 m);
  • 1 pressurized hydraulic tunnel (4,80 m diameter – 130 m long);
  • 1 penstock tunnel (slope 45° – 4,0 m diameter – ~900 m long);
  • Large cavern (30 m x 30 m, 40 m);
  • Channel discharging waters into the Adda’s river complete with siphon under the same;
  • 1 penstock (slope 45° – diameter 2,10 m, ~ 900 m long);
  • 1 turbine/generator unit – 75 MW;
  • 1 transformer unit with connection cables to the local electric network.
