Overview

The Val Schener hydroelectric plant situated in the municipalities of Sovramonte and Canal San Bovo (BL) collects the water into the Cismon River. The dam is of a dome-kind with a 68 m maximum height. The surface of the reservoir created by the dam is 0.35 km ² and the volume is 8.5 mln m³ with a maximum regulation elevation of 565 meters above sea level.

The water feeds two power plants, the Val Schener plant equipped with Kaplan turbines with a generator of a 2 MW installed capacity with units that use a diverted flow of 16 m³ per second with a 14.1 m waterfall for a hydroelectric production of 11.8 GWh and the Moline power plant equipped with Francis turbines with the related generators that supply an installed power capacity of 17 MW with units using a diverted flow of 16 m³ per second with a 143.1 m waterfall for a hydroelectric production of 115.2 GWh.

The power plant was built between 1961 and 1963 by the U. Caldart Spa and La Geotecnica Spa companies.
