Overview

The project included the hydrogeological analysis and the 2D hydraulic model of the valley section in correspondence of the crossing of Ufita river (Campania region, Italy) of the railway viaducts. The analysis considered several return periods, such as T=30, 100 and 300 years and, for the temporary construction phases, T=5 and 15 years.

The output consists in stormwater drainage layouts, large scale layouts for the hydraulic hazard, paying particular attention to the flood risk, of longitudinal stormwater drainage profiles, large scale layouts of catchment areas, layouts of speed and levels.

The hydraulic design includes the hydraulic works on Ufita river in correspondence of viaducts, riverbed works, and protection works.

The four viaducts consist in decks 25, 45 and 65 m long, for an overall length of 2 km. The 25 m decks are in prestressed concrete, and the longer decks for the river crossings are mixed steel-concrete structures.

Hirpinia railway station footprint is 100m x 70 m, is a reinforced concrete structure with an underground floor, a ground floor and a mezzanine level.

The design of the platforms includes a steel shelter for protection of the travelers.

The engineering services include also:

  • the environmental design of the construction site, including the environmental investigation campaign;
  • the management of excavated soil and rock;
  • the design of the construction site, such as the temporary accesses to the sites, the yards and the definition of the logistic and infrastructural layouts of the sites;
  • the MEP design (power and lighting systems, industrial systems of the buildings).

The whole design is developed according to the Building Information Modeling (BIM) using dedicated software and targeted information concepts.

  • A powerhouse with 2 Francis turbine units, total power equal to 9.4 MW
  • A service road 6400 m long

Scope of services

The Alpina mandate includes the preparation of the Basic and Detailed Design for construction of the all the civil and hydromechanical works.

  • Review of the existing data and studies provided to the Client by previous consultant. This activity includes the review of specifications and design criteria in order to achieve the feasibility of the construction.
  • Evaluation of Energy production for different water supply scenarios.
  • Selection of penstock diameter.
  • Design of all civil works.
  • Design of the penstocks.
  • Design of the powerhouses.
  • Design of excavations and temporary supports
  • Services and construction of temporary infrastructures necessary for the works.

Overview

Blanco hydroelectric plant is located in Chile, Bio-Bio region, Alto Bio-Bio municipality.

The Blanco plant works with 1 mᶟ/s of flow and it is mainly composed by a weir, a 3,2 km and 700 mm diameter adduction pipe, a penstock, a powerhouse with a one Pelton turbine of 2,4 MW output and a discharge channel.

Alpina developed the entire hydraulic, structural and geotechnical design for the runoff river plant.

Overview

Detail design of the El Pinar hydroelectric plant in Chile, Yungay municipality on the Cholguan River.

The El Pinar plant works with 7 m³/s of flow and it is mainly composed by a weir, a 1.7 km adduction tunnel followed by a 5.6 km and 2000 mm diameter HDPE adduction pipe. The penstock is made of a 400 m steel pipe, with a 1400 mm diameter, partially buried and partially exposed.

The powerhouse has two turbines: a Pelton and a Francis with a total power output of 11 MW. A discharge channel provides the restitution of waters to the river.

  • the preliminary design of the “Ring roads package”, a primary roads network that connects the area to the existing primary network (Tangenziale);
  • the preliminary design of the “Union roads package”, a secondary road network that connects the area to the main existing attractive poles such as the railway station, the “Città della Salute” (Health  City) and the new green park, This Package roads includs the preliminary design of a underpass of 100 m, under the railways, for public transportation that connects the areas of the city, today separated of the rail infrastructure; the associated utilities services networks.

Overview

The Project is the Design and Construction of the  largest and most exclusive multifunctional shopping center in Europe, known as “Westfield Milano” –  located in  Segrate, Milano.

The project includes the development of the Multifunctional Centre, approx of 286.000 SLP in the ex area redevelopment of the former customs area and the completion of SP Cassanese 121, approx 4,5 km of new highway, from Pioltello to the Lambrate junction (Tangenziale Milano).

Alpina provided design services related to:

  • the Technical support for Track A and Track B works – Cassanese SP 121 refurbishment (Section: double carriage highways – type B);
  • the Feasibility study to developed transport connection to the Centre (Railways Station, Metro Station, future road connections);
  • the Civil and Hydraulic Engineering Services (RIBA Stage 2 – 6) regarding the Internal Highways, transport engineering services, the associated utilities networks, the site wide water management strategy and engineering.

Overview

The Swimming Pool Project is considered as a work deducted from the monetization charges for services under the Implementation Plan relating to the Traversi Garage. The intervention is aimed at completing the equipment of recreational-sports facilities already available in the area and intended for residents and workers in the wider urban context. The project provides for the construction, in an overall area of approximately 3,000 sqm, of indoor swimming pool facilities made up of a main pool, a children’s pool that can be also used for therapeutic purposes and a separate gym area, provided with services and changing rooms. The project includes the expansion of the road segment for the first section of Via Fatebenesorelle and the reconstruction of the underground services in correspondence of the new building.

Overview

The project involves the construction of a building within the European research centre (JRC) located in the municipality of Ispra where Unit 08 will be located, which deals with studies and standardization of INSEL nuclear safety and security measures (Ispra Nuclear Safeguards, Security & Standardization Laboratory).

The basic design solution was to define two macro-areas within the building so that the administrative activities (i.e. offices, meeting rooms and accessory services) could be grouped together in an area of 650 m² arranged on two levels, separating them from laboratory and research activities with an area of 1000 m².
